MMG Engineering reproduces discontinued interior, exterior and trim components for classic and rare vehicles. We work from originals, broken samples or clear reference material, then design and manufacture replacements in the UAE using industrial additive manufacturing.

The process

From missing part to delivered replacement.

  1. 01

    Receive and inspect

    You send the original part, broken fragments or clear reference photos with measurements. We inspect the geometry, mounting points and failure mode before committing to production.

  2. 02

    Scan / measure

    We capture critical dimensions, clip spacing, fixing points and surface texture. Where possible we work from a known-good original; from fragments we reconstruct the geometry in CAD.

  3. 03

    Reverse-engineer in CAD

    The part is recreated digitally with attention to how it failed, how it mounts, and what forces it sees in service. We can reinforce weak points without changing the visible profile.

  4. 04

    Material selection

    We choose the material for the job — heat exposure, UV load, retention force and finish requirements all matter. Nylon PA12, carbon-filled nylon, resin and engineering-grade PETG/ABS are used most often.

  5. 05

    Additive manufacturing

    Parts are produced in-house or through our partner network using MJF, SLS, SLA, DLP or FDM processes depending on the material, geometry and tolerance required.

  6. 06

    Fitment and QC

    Critical dimensions and mounting features are checked before the part is finished, packed and shipped. Complex parts may need a trial fitment before final production.

What can be reproduced

What we can reproduce

  • Interior trim and bezels

    Door pulls, switch surrounds, console panels, trim caps and decorative inserts that have gone brittle or cracked with age.

  • Clips, brackets and retainers

    Small hidden components that fail during a restoration and are not listed by part suppliers any more.

  • Exterior trim and caps

    Mirror covers, trim pieces, light bezels and badges supplied ready for paint so they can be colour-matched to the car.

  • Prototype and low-volume parts

    One-off or short-run pieces where a mould would be uneconomical and no aftermarket supplier exists.

What we usually cannot reproduce

  • Safety-critical structural components

    Steering, suspension, brake, seatbelt and crash-critical parts are not reproduced unless the application can be fully engineered and certified for the specific use case.

  • Parts with no reference geometry

    We need at least a broken original, clear photos with measurements, or a donor sample to reconstruct the part accurately.

  • Mass-market new parts still in production

    If a genuine or quality aftermarket part is readily available, we will usually point you to that supplier rather than reproduce it.

Materials

Engineering-grade materials chosen per part.

The right material depends on where the part lives, what it does, and how it needs to look. We do not select a material by default; we select it for the load case.

  • Nylon PA12

    Tough, stable, low-warp. Our default for general cabin trim and bezels that need a good paintable or matte finish.

  • Carbon-filled nylon

    Higher stiffness and dimensional stability for load-bearing clips, brackets and thin-wall structural pieces.

  • Resin (SLA / DLP)

    High-resolution surface for fine-detail bezels, optical housings, master patterns and cosmetic surfaces.

  • PETG / ABS

    Reliable, machinable and easy to iterate. Used for prototypes and covers where engineering nylons are not required.

Tolerance & fitment

Honest accuracy for real-world fitment.

  • Dimensional accuracy. Typical additive tolerances are ±0.3–0.5 mm for MJF/SLS and ±0.1–0.2 mm for SLA/DLP. We use these as engineering allowances, not guarantees.
  • Mounting-first design. Clip lands, fixing holes and locating features are prioritised over cosmetic surfaces. A part that fits badly is worse than a part that looks slightly different.
  • Iteration may be needed. Hard-to-find parts with complex geometry sometimes need one test fit before final production. We quote this into the project rather than promising first-time perfection.
  • Finish expectations. 3D-printed surfaces are not injection-moulded surfaces. Visible parts are supplied paint-ready or with a matte technical finish; high-gloss factory textures are not always achievable.

FAQ

Common questions about reproduction.

Can you reproduce a part from only photos?
Yes, if the photos are clear and include key dimensions. We prefer to work from a physical sample or broken original because it removes guesswork, but many small brackets and trim pieces have been reproduced from detailed photos and measurements.
Are the parts as strong as the originals?
Not always in the same way. Originals are injection-moulded from specific materials. We choose engineering-grade materials to match the load case, but we are honest about where additive materials differ in UV stability, heat resistance or impact behaviour.
Can you print in metal?
We can produce metal parts through MJF or DMLS where the geometry and volume justify it. These are case-by-case because lead times and cost are significantly higher than polymer reproductions.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. Parts are finished and packed in the UAE and shipped to restorers, workshops and owners worldwide.
What if the first part does not fit perfectly?
We build the possibility of iteration into complex projects. If a part needs adjustment after test fitment, we revise the CAD and reprint. The cost and time for this is agreed up front.
Can you reproduce parts for any car?
We focus on classic, rare and discontinued vehicles where the original part is no longer available. We do not reproduce parts that are still in production, safety-critical unless fully engineered, or parts where we cannot verify geometry.
