BMW E31 8 Series
BMW’s flagship grand tourer of the 1990s, mixing shark-nose styling with V8 and V12 powertrains. Low production numbers and complex interior trim make restoration-quality parts increasingly hard to source.

BMW E31 parts — what fails, and what we reproduce
The BMW E31 8 Series was built in small numbers between 1989 and 1999, and BMW discontinued most of its interior and exterior trim years ago. Owners restoring an 840i, 840Ci, 850i, 850Ci or 850CSi today are usually not chasing mechanical parts — they are chasing the small moulded components that hold the cabin together, and those are the parts that no longer exist as new old stock.
MMG reproduces those components from measured originals. We work from a customer-supplied part or from a donor sample, capture the mounting geometry, and produce a replacement in a material chosen for the load and heat the part actually sees in service. Nothing is scaled from a photograph, and nothing is guessed: if the original clip spacing is 62 mm, the reproduction is 62 mm.
This page lists the E31 parts we are asked for most often, what typically fails on each one, and what to check on your own car before ordering. Everything below is drawn from parts that have passed across our bench in Dubai.

E31 headlight trim — reproduced from a measured original.
E31 centre console panel — apertures and fixings held to the factory layout.
E31 interior detail — matte finish chosen to sit with surrounding cabin trim.
Commonly unavailable parts
Materials and finish
- Tough engineering polymers selected for dimensional stability in Gulf cabin temperatures, finished matte so the part reads as trim rather than as a print.
- Higher-stiffness materials where the part carries retention load, with added wall thickness at the original failure point.
- Surfaces prepared for primer and paint so your body shop can colour-match to the car as it stands today.
Fitment notes before you order
- Confirm your production year. Early (pre-1995) and late E31s use different switchgear and harness routing, so switch-related trim is not always interchangeable.
- V12 cars (850i, 850Ci, 850CSi) carry extra wiring and brackets behind interior panels — allow extra removal time and check for additional retainers.
- 850CSi-specific interior and exterior details differ from standard 850Ci parts; tell us the exact variant when requesting.
- Colour and grain vary with age. For visible cabin trim, send a photo of the surrounding panel so we can advise on finish before production.
- If your original part is broken but complete, keep every fragment. A full set of pieces gives us the mounting geometry and shortens the reproduction cycle.
Frequently asked
- Are BMW E31 8 Series parts still available from BMW?
- Most E31 interior and exterior trim has been discontinued and is only found as used stock, often with the same age-related cracking as the part being replaced. MMG reproduces these components to order.
- Can MMG make an E31 part that is not listed in the catalogue?
- Yes. Send photos of the part — and the broken original if you have it — through a custom request. We quote lead time and price before any work starts.
- Do reproduction parts fit the original mounting points?
- Every part is dimensioned against documented E31 mounting points and clip spacing, so it installs with the factory fixings and no modification to the surrounding trim.
