The shifter surround is the single most looked-at piece of trim in an E31 cabin: it sits directly under the driver’s hand and takes three decades of sun, sleeve contact and cleaning products. Almost every 8 Series we see has a surround that has gone shiny, brittle at the edges or cracked around the retaining tabs.
This part is reproduced from a measured original rather than scaled from photographs, so the console aperture, boot lip and clip positions match the factory component and the panel sits flush without packing or trimming.
Why the original is unavailable
BMW discontinued E31 console trim years ago and used-market examples are usually as UV-degraded as the one being replaced, which is why owners end up buying the same failure twice.
Material and finish
Printed in a heat-stable engineering polymer chosen for a car that lives in cabin temperatures well above ambient, then finished to match the original textured grain rather than left glossy.

Fitment notes
- Fits 840i, 840Ci, 850i and 850Ci with the standard automatic or manual shifter — confirm your car is not Steptronic, which uses a different surround.

- Check the condition of the original retaining clips before installation — brittle clips should be replaced at the same time.
